Description: The primary role of the college supervisor is to serve as the liaison between Wilson College and the public/private schools where students are assigned for their Student Teaching experience. The supervisor’s responsibilities include: attend orientation, review weekly lesson plans, review and respond to weekly reflections, conduct at least four formal observations per semester, communicate candidates’ progress to the Teacher Intern Program Director/Placement Coordinator, complete observation feedback, complete mid-term/final evaluations, and write a letter of recommendation. College supervisors must be available to visit schools on varying days through the week (though they may schedule observations around their other commitments) and respond to e-mail within 24 business hours. This is a semester appointment. Once approved, supervisors are placed on a list and used as needed depending on their certification. In most cases, supervisors are paired with students based on area of certification.
Currently in need of a college supervisors certified in the following areas:
Middle level contents: math, English, science, and social studies
Secondary contents: biology, chemistry, English, math and social studies
PK-12 areas: Spanish, Business, and HPE
Qualifications: Retired educators are prime candidates. The candidate must meet the following requirements: a minimum of three years of teaching experience, at least a Master’s Degree in some area of education, and teacher certification.
