    Master of Arts in Humanities Info Session to be Held Oct. 24

    Wilson College will host an information session about its master’s degree program in the humanities at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in Norland Hall. The session will cover how to apply and provide an overview of the program, financial aid opportunities and graduate assistantships, and a list of classes for 2013-14 and beyond.     Poet Melanie Faith Opens Wilson Writers Series Oct. 24

    Poet Melanie Faith will open the annual Writers Series at Wilson College on Thursday, Oct. 24, with a reading from her new poetry chapbook, “Catching the Send-off Train." The reading will begin at 7 p.m. in Laird Hall’s Patterson Lounge and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Faith '99, a graduate of Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., is a published author, English tutor and online creative writing instructor. She lives in Mercersburg, Pa.

    Free Ballet Lessons Offered at Wilson College

    The Wilson College dance program will offer free ballet classes this semester. The classes, which are offered from 6 to 7:15 p.m. on Mondays from Sept. 16 through November, are open to anyone who is interested.     Pakistani Presbyterian Education Official to Speak at Wilson

    Wilson College will host guest speaker Veeda Javaid at its regular chapel service at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Thomson Hall’s Alumnae Chapel. All are welcome to hear Javaid, executive director of the Presbyterian Education Board in Pakistan, talk about the SHE (Struggle-Hope-Empowerment) project for at-risk women and girls she supervises in Pakistan. Javaid will also discuss community development programs for literacy, vocational training and personal improvement in Pakistan.

    Pianist to Give Free Performance at Wilson Sept. 20.

    Acclaimed Israeli pianist Efi Hackmey, who gave a riveting performance at Wilson College in 2012, will return to the Wilson stage this month for a free concert of classical music. Hackmey will perform a solo piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in Thomson Hall’s Alumnae Chapel.

    Reformatted Orr Forum to Open Tuesday, Sept. 3

    The 2013-14 Orr Forum on Religion will open with a talk by Wilson College English Professor Larry Shillock, whose topic will be "The Walking Dead, Television Advertising and the Epistles of Saint Paul." He will speak at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the second floor lobby of the Brooks Science Complex.

    Wilson College Student Presents Senior Capstone Art Exhibition

    Wilson College senior Maleah Friedline of Jennerstown, Pa., will host a capstone exhibition of her art from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at 124 Ramsey Ave. Friedline’s artwork will also be installed at Wilson’s Bogigian Gallery in Lortz Hall, beginning with a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, when she will give a brief talk about her work.
