SOC 230: Deviance and Criminal Justice Explores traditional sociological theories and critical perspectives (including feminist analysis) on deviance and criminal behavior. Considers informal and formal methods of social control including stigma, incarceration, institutionalization and alternative methods of prevention, adjudication and rehabilitation. Critically analyzes the impact of social institutions and inequalities at local to global levels on the development of individual, governmental and corporate crime and deviance. Prerequisite: SOC 120. CC Sociology
