Documentary Purvis of Overtown

Featuring the acclaimed artist Purvis Young who was born, lived and died in Overtown Miami. The self-taught artist is world renowned and his pieces can be seen all over the world, from the Smithsonian to the New Orleans Museum of art. The art he paints is the portrait of his community, Overtown Miami and the trials and tribulations that went on throughout history. He is known as the Picasso of our generation.

Purvis of Overtown will be shown and then a talk back will be held after. 

Purvis Young Discussion

Adam DelMarcelle, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and academic curator Matthew Clay-Robison will be discussing the work of artist Purvis Young and the importance of academic galleries and museums. 

This event is free and open to the public. 

The interactive exhibition, “Cut Through — Purvis Young: Stories of Overtown.” is on display on the ground and first floor of John Stewart Memorial Library. 

Passages: New Work by Philip Lindsey

This exhibition features a body of work that Professor Philip Lindsey created during his sabbatical in the spring of 2024. The pieces selected for this particular show are only some of the art he made for his research project during that sabbatical, including paintings and charcoals, both single- and-mixed media.

This exhibition was collaboratively curated with Wilson’s MFA Students. 

The exhibit will be on display from July 20, 2024 to January 31, 2025

14th Annual Juried High School Student Art Exhibition Opening Reception

The Wilson College Juried High School Art Exhibition is an opportunity for student artists to exhibit and possibly win cash or a scholarship.

Wilson College will host the 14th Annual Juried High School Student Art Exhibition from October 26 – December 2, 2024. This exhibition will be an installed exhibition of artwork in Bogigian Gallery at Wilson College. The Opening Reception will be on November 6 from 4:30-6 p.m. 

ArtsFest 2025

Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11, ArtsFest 2025 will be showcasing the remarkable art, artists, and artistic opportunities at Wilson. 

This year’s theme is ART IS... SHARING STORIES and we are featuring Wilson College and Chambersburg community members who will be sharing their experience, expertise, and work at ArtsFest 2025. Events include presentations/readings, performances, projects, workshops/classes, exhibitions, immersive experiences, “make and take” or arts and crafts type experiences, and other type of arts-based events.
