Doctor of Occupational Therapy Technical Standards

The Occupational Therapy Program requires students to meet specific technical standards to ensure they can successfully complete the academic and clinical components of the program. The following checklist outlines the essential abilities necessary for participation. Applicants should review each category and indicate whether they meet the requirements by checking "Yes" or "No."

The Technical Standards outlined below represent the foundational skills and abilities required for success in the Entry-Level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) program at Wilson College. These competencies are fundamental to the role of an OTD student and reflect the necessary abilities to fully engage in the academic, fieldwork, and capstone components of the program, as well as to prepare for entry-level occupational therapy practice.

Students must be able to perform the listed functions with or without reasonable accommodations, as these skills are necessary for meeting the requirements of coursework, fieldwork, the capstone experience, and entry-level practice. If a student is unable to meet these standards, it may indicate a need for accommodations or further assessment to determine their ability to successfully progress in the program.

This checklist serves as a self-assessment tool to help students evaluate their readiness for the program and determine if accommodations may be needed. If a student has a documented disability and requires accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), they are encouraged to seek support through the appropriate channels.

Ongoing Review and Compliance

  • Students are required to review and sign the Technical Standards document at the start of each semester to confirm their continued ability to meet these standards.

  •  If at any point during the program a student's ability to meet these technical standards changes, they must immediately notify their academic advisor and/or the Program Director.

  • Any changes in a student's ability to meet these requirements may impact their ability to continue in the program, participate in fieldwork, complete their capstone experience, or transition into entry-level practice.

Download the Technical Standards Review here and upon completing the checklist, please sign the Technical Standards Review, acknowledging that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these standards.
