Health Science Concentration Requirements

Pre-Professional Studies

The pre-professional concentration prepares those students who wish to further their studies and training in graduate school to become a health science or allied health professional. It is also well suited for students who plan to pursue a career in a clinical director role.
•    CHM 101L General Chemistry I (with lab)
or 
•    CHM 103L Fundamentals of General Chemistry (with lab)

•    CHM 102L General Chemistry II Lab
or 
•    CHM 104L Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry Lab

•    MAT 110 Pre-calculus Mathematics 
•    PHY 101L Physics I (with lab) (NSL) 
•    *PHY 102L Physics II (with lab component)

*This course is not a requirement for the major/concentration, but will be a requirement for application to either graduate or medical school.


Public Health

The Public Health concentration prepares students to further their studies and training in public health, social work and advocacy, and healthcare administration. It is also well suited for students wishing to pursue a career working for non-profit organizations or community health centers, wellness companies, and health promotion organizations.

Holistic Health

The Holistic Health concentration emphasizes learning the basic concepts of health by exploring wellness from a holistic perspective. Students are taught how to live a healthy life, manage stress, and understand the benefits of physical activity – in addition to learning about complementary and alternative medicine beyond traditional Western Medicine techniques.  Topics include, but are not limited to health, wellness, personal healing, healthy coping and self-care, complementary therapies, and physical and mental well-being techniques. Elective courses allow students to expand and build upon knowledge acquired in their core courses; and gives them the ability to personalize the minor in a way that may be most helpful in a chosen field.
