Residence Hall Expansion Project Spring 2026

Wilson College is pleased to announce the launch of a residence hall expansion project at our Chambersburg campus beginning January 28, 2026—a significant investment that reflects Wilson’s continued enrollment growth and its commitment to providing a residential experience that supports student success.

A Place to Belong: A Residence Hall Expansion Project at Wilson College

Over the past several years, Wilson has experienced sustained increases in enrollment, and our on-campus housing has now reached full capacity. To address this demand—and to better meet the evolving needs of today’s students—the College will reimagine existing campus space to create apartment-style housing designed to foster independence, community, and a strong sense of belonging. To fund these exciting developments, the College has begun a fundraising campaign to cover the anticipated $3.6 million project cost.

Project Description

This project will transform the ground floor of Prentis Hall and the area above the dining hall, between McElwain and Davison Halls (known as the Platform), into modern, apartment-style residences and a small number of offices. In total, 21 new residential beds will be added to the campus.

These apartments will provide students with amenities that support both academic focus and personal development, including:

  • Private or semi-private bedrooms
  • Shared living and kitchen spaces
  • Greater autonomy and responsibility in a supportive residential setting

Apartment-style Living: Design for Today's Students

Apartment-style housing plays an important role in student recruitment and retention, particularly for students seeking a more independent living environment while remaining fully engaged in campus life. This model supports students as they develop life skills such as collaboration, time management, and personal accountability—key outcomes of a Wilson education.

Regular project updates will be shared with the campus community as they become available.

An Invitation to Partner

To fund these exciting developments, Wilson College has launched a fundraising campaign to support the $4.0 million project goal. Naming opportunities are available at multiple levels, allowing donors to align their support with spaces that hold personal meaning while creating a lasting legacy on campus.
